If you’re anything like us, a few big holiday meals can have you feeling pretty heavy. Luckily, your wrist doesn’t have to feel the same way, and that’s thanks to an incredibly solid lineup of titanium watches from Citizen. If you’ve never handled a titanium watch before, you’re in for a treat. The metal is almost shockingly light, but still retains a premium feel and can be finished in the same way as steel. Of all the brands out there, Citizen has embraced titanium the most, with a complete lineup of interesting watches that appeal to a broad range of tastes. Citizen doesn’t use just any titanium, but one of their own creation. Super Titanium is Citizen’s approach to maintaining a pristine appearance on the elements of their watch by applying their proprietary surface-hardening technology that they call Duratect to create a watch that is five times harder and 40% lighter than stainless steel. Typically, titanium is more prone to scratches and this addition of surface hardening ensures that the watch stays free from nicks and scratches. Citizen’s Brycen is a modern take on the integrated bracelet chronograph. Crafted from Super Titanium, the case features an interesting shape that cascades into the bracelet for a sleek look. This two-register chronograph is powered by an Eco-Drive movement that’s powered by light and never requires a battery change. You can track seconds with the central chronograph hand, 60 minutes with the register, and view running seconds with the other. A handsome white dial makes the silver accents pop, while a sapphire crystal protects it from bumps and scratches. The Brycen measures 43mm wide, making a bold appearance on the wrist. At first glance, you might think this Super Titanium watch is a chronograph, but take a closer look and you’ll realize there’s something more going on. One of titanium’s other properties is being extremely tough, and the Altichron is a great use case for the metal. The 47mm case is treated with a DLC coating to give it a sleek appearance and some extra durability. The watch itself is powered by the Caliber J280 that includes a metric altimeter, compass, and date display. If you find yourself scaling peaks (or even out on a hike) you’ll be able to tell at a glance how high up you are and which way you’re headed. The Altichron also features other convenient specs like 200 meters of water resistance, a spherical sapphire crystal, and an adventure-ready nylon strap with a matching blue dial.
It’s hard to beat a straightforward, legible field watch for your everyday timepiece. The Promaster Tough is a more modern take on the field watch. Crafted from Super Titanium and measuring in at 41mm, this watch wears well on nearly any wrist. An Eco-Drive movement keeps the time, which is displayed on the ultra-legible dial. Bright white indices stand out on the dark gray dial and are treated with luminous paint for the best legibility possible. You’ll appreciate the cool little details like a monocoque case with crown guards that protect the easily-gripped knurled crown. Based on the iconic 1977 Challenge Diver, this watch boasts many of the same classic design cues. Crafted from DLC-coated Super Titanium, this fully featured diver is capable of diving to 200 meters. The lumed applied indices and hands stay visible day or night, above or below the surface. A unidirectional rotating timing bezel allows you to track time. Inside, a reliable Cal. 9051 automatic movement tracks the time. Wound up by the movement of your wrist or a few turns of the crown, the movement will run for 42 hours when fully wound and stay running as long as it’s on your wrist. If you prefer your field watch with more of a classic look, the Garrison is the perfect option. Creamy tan lume is applied to the hands and hour markers, while orange accents every 10 minutes on the chapter ring really give the watch a vintage look. A set of sword hands point to the time, while a display window at 3 keeps you apprised of the day and date. The green dial has a mix of smooth and textured finishes, adding some visual appeal. Crafted from Super Titanium, the Garrison remains light and comfortable on the wrist for all-day wear.
