Watch Scrolling: Chris Antzoulis Picks Five Fun Instagram Accounts by Community Oriented Creators

It’s been just about a year since we last scrolled. But we’re back, flicking fingers and double tapping with more fervor than ever before. This series started as a way to try and avoid the horrors of losing oneself in doom scrolling through the vastness of Instagram, and to instead serve up a bounty of accounts worthy of your hearts and comments.

As Worn & Wound has broadened its reach, so have we in the depth of our scrolling. While watches may make us drool, we also like to indulge in other hobbies, as well as EDC. Today, contributor Chris Antzoulis picks five IG accounts that he thinks are worth a follow.

The world of watches doesn’t have to be so serious all the time, and Sophie routinely invites us into her world, through her Instagram and YouTube account, to share a bit of her wacky humor. Yet, she still manages to deliver on the history of different watches and brands, and brings up relevant questions for us to ponder. Whether it’s asking her followers if they’ve considered neo-vintage quartz watches, or if we’ve paid attention to how different brands choose to market their watches, it’s clear that Sophie wants us to question not only what we enjoy about the watch community, but why we enjoy it, and how we can make it better. And because she delivers the message in a digestible and fun way, it’s easy to engage with her.

It will delight you to know that this account is exactly what it sounds like. Oscar is a terrific photographer, dishing out delectable photos of watches, but the twist is that many of his photos have Lego characters interacting with his watches in a scene that Oscar’s concocted. Whether it’s a half naked Stormtrooper working the crown of a Panerai Luminor, a pirate trying to rob Oscar of his Tudor GMT at gunpoint, or some firefighters putting out a particularly hot William Wood watch, there’s so much content here to bring out the creativity and youth in every follower. However, there are also plenty of photos without the Lego characters, that stand on their own in highlighting the beauty in each of the watches that Oscar shoots.

Garrett may be the newest photographer on the Worn & Wound team, but his contributions to the community don’t end with his day job. His Instagram account is packed full of great EDC and street photography. As an EDC noob myself, it’s cool to see the gear that Garrett brings along on his day-to-day. Whether it’s a comfortable backpack, a convenient carabiner, or a conducive pocket tool, Garrett has you covered for items you may want to consider carrying around to make sure your day goes off without a hitch. Did I also mention that he’s got some amazing taste in watches? From luxury, to affordable, and even to a beautiful vintage Illinois pocket watch, it’s fun to see Garrett’s collection grow, and how he chooses to pair those watches with his gear.

Dogs On Time (@dogsontime) • Instagram photos and videos

First of all, who doesn’t like dogs? And if you’re reading this, you already love watches. So, smush those two joys together, add a talented artist to the mix, and you have Guillaume’s @dogsontime. Guillaume illustrates watches that we hold near and dear, and he finds ways to incorporate a dog (perhaps even your pet) to the image. He recently painted my buddy Bryan’s Breitling Chronomat, featuring an appearance from Pawdon Ramsay, looking judgy as ever. Sometimes he does illustrations just for the fun of it, like Snoopy smooching a Bamford GMT, or a wonderful tribute post he did for Lydia Winters and Vu Bui, hosts of the This Watch Life podcast. Guillaume’s artwork is vibrant, and he adds a tremendous amount of positivity to the community through the art he shares. You can reach out to him for a commission, or just simply appreciate the effort he puts into making sure we are all having a blast passing the time with our furry friends.

Michael is an incredible watch photographer, let’s get that out of the way. But in a sea of fantastic photography, he stands out. His colors and compositions are put together with care. Often matching or carefully choosing items with contrasting hues, makes for dynamic shots that really show off the watches he’s highlighting. But I also personally know Michael as the King of Watch Plonking (#lazilyplonked). Don’t feel bad if you don’t know what that is…I didn’t know until I asked, or maybe I’m just old. Anyway, plonking! Plonking is when you set something down carelessly. And watch plonking is…well you get it. Michael makes it seem like he’s “lazily” plonking his watches down on a tree branch or an old rusty trash can, but I’d argue that he has a meticulous eye as the palette and oftentimes the surface texture was obviously well-examined before said plonking occurred. On top of it all, he’s a genuinely nice guy if you care to take time out to chat with him.
