One of the most anticipated releases of this year’s Baselworld was undoubtedly the Seiko Ref. SLA033, which brings back, albeit in a highly limited edition, the legendary 6105 diver, made famous for its cameo in Apocalypse Now. But beyond that silver screen appearance the watch is beloved because it’s quintessential Seiko. From the case shape to the dial layout, the 6105 is a bedrock for what Seiko’s done since, so it’s exciting to see it back, even if it’s in such a small production run. You can read more about the original here.
As our very own Christoph noted in his initial writeup, this is not a one-for-one reissue. There are some small, yet noteable, changes, among them a sapphire crystal in place of Hardlex, a more reliable screw-down crown, and the high-end 8L35 caliber.
